Location!! Charm!!

Located a block from the dunes and Bay Beach!

Great for young families or walkers fond of sunrises and sunsets, this small, charming beach cottage is decorated with original Art on the walls, and the comforts of 20th Century “beach décor”. The cottage, built in the 1920’s with no frills, had been updated with an addition in 2010 offering a large eat-in country kitchen, two baths, a master bedroom upstairs, and a laundry area. Recently, the two small first floor bedrooms were provided with new, comfortable beds: a twin over double in BR2; and a double in BR1. There is limited storage space in both.

Upstairs, a spacious primary bedroom has a queen-sized bed with an artist-carved seashell headboard and more Art on the walls. With many windows and a small balcony, one feels as though living inside is part of nature outside.

A new HVAC unit was installed in 2024, and services the first floor. In 2025, on the second floor, a new Mini-Split A/C/ heat system was installed.

The cottage has a screened-in front porch great for morning coffee, watching approaching storms, and reading in the late afternoon sunlight. The kitchen opens onto a small deck and patio with natural plantings, a hammock, umbrella-covered table and seating, a grill, and outdoor shower. These provide a pleasant space for summer living out of doors. The back yard is fenced in and backed by a small shed built in 2012. This is an alternative space with screened in porch and a storage area. The patio is shaded such that summer temps are cooler than on the beaches.

Biking trails nearby lead to Cape Henlopen, Ocean beaches and Rehoboth. A comfortable walk to dining and shopping on Second Street Lewes is an exceptional experience.

All guests must supply their own sheets, towels and beach towels or OPT in for our linen rental package.

This property does not allow pets.

The property must be occupied for the entire rental period by the Guest signing the Lodging Agreement (Responsible Guest), and all occupants of the Property shall be supervised by the Responsible Guest. The Responsible Guest must be at least 25 years of age. If the party is made up of unrelated individuals (a group rental where the Responsible Guest is NOT the legal guardian/parent of any other guests), ALL guests occupying the property must be at least 25 years of age.

We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover Credit Cards and eChecks for your initial deposit. We also accept personal checks for final payments. Final payments are due 30 days prior to your check-in date. NOTE: Any payments within 30 days of arrival require to be in certified funds or by credit card. You will be provided a link to a Guest Portal where you can securely make your payments online.

    On the positive side the location is fantastic, well stocked with indoor and outdoor items, the upstairs addition was very nice as was the kitchen. The downstairs bathroom was fine as was the living area.

    The downside was the second bedroom with the double bunk bed. Quite frankly that room was unacceptable. the bed was old and rickety. No one felt safe or comfortable. It also smelled faintly of urine in that room the 2 dressers were so old and warped they could hardly be used. The closet was unusable. For those reasons I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it to others. If the owners put some modest updates in like a new furniture set for that room and a few other small inexpensive upgrades ( like the iron was rusty !, the paper towel holder old sticky and hard to use!) if would go a long way.

    The property was also not very clean. It was not terrible but within 10 mins of walking around barefoot the bottoms of our feet were black.

The double/double bunk bed has been replaced with a Double/Twin bunk and the owner has been made aware of the cleaning issue.
